Why is my garage door so noisy?

• Rattling — loose hardware (bolts, nuts, or hinges that have vibrated free over time)
• Squeaking — components that need lubrication, especially rollers and hinges
• Banging — often a broken or nearly-broken spring releasing under tension
• Popping — spring tension imbalance, or a section panel flexing under stress

Lubrication fixes many squeaks — apply white lithium grease or silicone spray to rollers, hinges, and springs. Rattling usually requires a hardware tightening pass. Grinding and banging warrant a call to a professional before operating the door further.

My garage door won’t open — what do I check first?

Start with the obvious: is the opener plugged in, and does the outlet have power? Try the wall button instead of the remote (remotes have battery issues). If the opener motor runs but the door doesn’t move, the emergency cord may be engaged — look for a red cord hanging from the trolley and reconnect it. If the motor is silent, check the circuit breaker. If the door feels extremely heavy or won’t move at all, a broken spring is the most likely cause — stop using the door and call us.

Can I replace my own garage door springs?

We strongly recommend against it. Garage door springs — especially torsion springs — store enormous energy under tension.
