Garage Door Installation
Arrowhead Door Co handles garage door installation in Kansas City and Independence for homeowners and small commercial properties. We have been family-owned since 1986. We measure the opening at your home, you choose the door, and our own technicians install it, usually in a single day.
Pick the Door That Fits Your House
Raised-panel steel
The classic look, tough and low maintenance, in the colors and window options you want.
Wood-look steel
Woodgrain finishes that look like real wood without the upkeep. Our most-requested upgrade.
Insulated doors
For attached garages, workshops and rooms above the garage. Quieter, warmer, and better for the opener.

Brands We Carry: Amarr, C.H.I. and Clopay
We install residential and commercial sectional doors from three manufacturers: Amarr, C.H.I. and Clopay. All three build steel doors in a range of panel designs, finishes and insulation levels, so most homes in the metro can be matched without a custom order.
- Raised-panel steel. The classic look you see on most houses in Independence and Blue Springs. Durable, affordable and available in standard colors.
- Flush and modern panel. A clean face with little or no embossing. A good fit for newer builds in Lee’s Summit and the Northland.
- Carriage house. Steel doors styled to look like old swing-out barn doors, with decorative handles and hinges. They still roll up on tracks like any sectional door.
- Wood-look steel. Woodgrain finishes that read as real wood from the curb, without staining or sealing every few years.
- Insulated doors. Polystyrene or polyurethane cores for attached garages, workshops and homes with a bedroom above the garage.
- Windows and hardware. Window inserts in several shapes, plus decorative hardware if you want it.
For commercial properties we install sectional doors sized for shops, warehouses and loading areas. See our residential and commercial page for details.
When to Replace Instead of Repair
Many calls we get are repairs, not replacements. A single broken spring, a bent track or a dead opener can usually be fixed the same day. Start with our garage door repair page if only one part failed.
What Happens When You Call
And talk through styles, insulation and what the opening needs.
Style, color, windows and insulation. We quote it upfront, no surprises.
Our own technicians. New tracks and hardware where needed, opener checked.
Balance and safety test, then the old door leaves with us.
What a Garage Door Installation Involves
A new door is more than panels. Here is what our crew does on a typical single or double door, in order:
- Measurement visit. We measure the opening width and height, headroom, side room and backroom. Low headroom or an odd-sized opening changes the hardware we bring.
- Door selection. You pick the brand, panel style, color, insulation level, windows and hardware. We bring samples or walk you through the catalog.
- Scheduled install. Most single and double doors are done in one day. We confirm the date once the door arrives from the manufacturer.
- Old door and spring removal. Springs are under tension and come off first, safely. Then the sections, tracks and rollers.
- New tracks and hardware. We replace tracks, hinges, rollers and springs where needed rather than reusing worn parts under a new door.
- Opener check. We test your existing opener with the new door, adjust the force and travel limits, or install a new opener if you want one. See garage door opener replacement.
- Safety and balance test. The door should hold itself halfway open with the opener disconnected. We check the photo eyes and auto-reverse before we leave.
- Haul-away. The old door, springs and packaging leave on our truck.
Insulated Garage Doors for Attached Garages
Insulation is measured by R-value. A higher R-value means the door slows heat transfer more. If your garage is attached to the house, or there is a bedroom or bonus room over it, an insulated door keeps that space closer to the rest of the house in a January cold snap and an August heat wave. It also makes the door quieter and stiffer, which matters on wide double doors. A detached garage used only for parking usually does not need it. We will tell you which is which at the measurement visit rather than upselling insulation you will not notice.
Replacing a Door Hit by a Car or Storm
A door that has been backed into or caught by straight-line winds is a safety problem, not just a cosmetic one. Bent sections can bind in the track, and a damaged door can fall if the springs or cables let go. Do not try to run the opener on a bent door. Call us for a same-day assessment. If the door cannot be closed, we can secure the opening temporarily until the replacement arrives. For after-hours damage, our 24/7 emergency garage door repair crew answers the phone with no after-hours surcharge.

Installation Questions
How long does it take to install a garage door?
Most single and double residential garage doors are installed in one day. That includes removing the old door and springs, hanging new tracks and hardware, setting the new sections, connecting and adjusting the opener, and testing the balance and safety reverse. The longer wait is usually the door itself, since Amarr, C.H.I. and Clopay doors are built to order in your size, style and color. We schedule the install once the door arrives.
What garage door brands do you install?
We install Amarr, C.H.I. and Clopay garage doors. All three offer raised-panel, flush, carriage house and wood-look steel doors, with insulated and non-insulated options and a range of window and hardware choices. We will recommend the brand and model that fits your opening, your budget and how you use the garage.
Can you replace just one panel instead of the whole door?
Sometimes. If the door is a current model and only one section is damaged, we can often order a matching panel and swap it. The catch is color. A new panel on a door that has faded for ten years will not match exactly. If the model has been discontinued, or two or more sections are damaged, replacing the whole door is usually the better value. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in.
Do I need a new opener with a new door?
Not always. If your opener is in good shape and has working safety sensors, we can connect it to the new door and reset the force and travel settings. Openers that are very old, lack photo eyes, or struggle to lift the current door are worth replacing at the same time, since the crew is already there and the new door is a clean starting point. We carry openers on the truck if you decide to upgrade.
Can you replace a garage door that was hit by a car?
Yes. Call us the same day. We will assess the damage, make sure the door is safe or disconnect it if it is not, and secure the opening temporarily if the door will not close. Then we measure for the replacement and order it. If the damage happens at night or on a weekend, our 24/7 emergency line answers with no after-hours surcharge.
